LPI/CompTIA Linux Certification Coming Soon

I recently received a mail from CompTIA regarding a new Linux+ certification coming down the pipe. This new Certification is the result of a new partnership between LPI and CompTIA and under this agreement there will be a new 2 exam Linux+ launched this year.

The new certification will be titled “CompTIA Linux+ [Powered by LPI]” and delegates will be required to pass both of the exams to gain the Certification. The new exam numbers will be LX0-101 and LX0-102.

The most important development and advantage that new Linux+ Certification brings is that these exams will now be identical to the first level of the Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) program, LPIC-1.

If you gain this new certification it will mean that you are eligible for LPIC-1 certification also. To get this you will need to opt to have your results sent to LPI, this will be an option at the beginning of your Linux+ Exams.

Currently the exam prices are forecast to be the same as the LPIC-1 exams but the CompTIA website will be updated with details shortly (We expect April 7)

We expect to release the course later this year, we have just revamped and released the Linux 2009 course in our Mentored Learning Classroom and this version of the Linux+ will continue to run weekly till we have developed content for the new Linux+ course and exam.

For more information on the current Linux+ please see the following link: (Running weekly in Dublin)
